Main Street and Downtown Revitalization Project
MAIN ST. / DOWNTOWN REVITALIZATION PROJECT STATUS
PROJECT COMPLETION DATE: JULY 2018
All major work for this project has been completed. The remaining tasks are minor and include railings, signs and final cosmetic treatments. The contractor will be on site very limited and the project will wrap up very soon.
Your assistance in bringing any comments, concerns, observations, etc. to our attention as soon as possible is important to the successful completion of the project for all users and abutters. If you have any questions, comments or concerns about any aspect of the project, your driveway or your frontage, please let this office know so that we can advise the contractor and have it addressed as soon as possible. Once the contractor leaves the site, the opportunity for changes and corrections will have passed.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Main Street project will reconstruct and revitalize downtown Spencer and will include roadway resurfacing; traffic and signal coordination improvements; improved geometry for truck turning; improved traffic flow; bicycle accommodations; pedestrian sidewalk reconstruction inclusive of all necessary handicap accessibility upgrades, ramps and crosswalks; streetscape enhancements; and utility systems infrastructure (water and sewer) upgrades. The total estimated construction cost for this project is $3.6 million dollars, to be paid by State/Federal Transportation funds. The Town of Spencer is responsible for funding and administering the design of the project as well as all necessary right-of-way acquisitions.

The Spencer Utilities and Facilities is available to attempt to answer any questions or concerns regarding the scope and intent of the project or how any abutting property may be affected by the reconstruction improvements. Any questions we cannot answer we will contact MassDOT or Baltazar Contractors, Inc. as may be necessary to resolve any outstanding matters or concerns.
