Trustees’ Meeting
April 12, 2022
In Attendance:

Meeting was called to order at 4:30 p.m.
Maryanne motioned to approve the minutes from March meeting. Alyson seconded. Motion approved.
Children’s Room:
*Community Connections continues to provided monthly kits for birth-PK. They will be providing a story time on April 19th. Registration required.
*We continue to give away our own kits for toddler/PK, K-5 and teens.
*Drop-in activities are available in the Children’s Dept.
*MaryAnne Slack is doing a musical program on April 21st.
* Amy hosts a domino zoom challenge every other week.
*We Read It newsletter goes out monthly.
*30 planting kits have been created with an accompanying book called “Because of an Acorn” by Lola Schaefer.
*10 watercolor kits for teens were created.
*May 2nd picture book author Alec Cavlin (“How to Bake a Universe”) will have a program with a craft and Q&A.
*Katie attended several virtual programs including:
CMLA Youth Services
Middle Grade Magic
Small Libraries Community Chat
Explore the Natural World
Community Connections Advisory Council
Summer reading Kickoff with Novelist
Youth Mental Health First Aid
*Summer reading kickoff will be at the Spencer Highway Garage on July 12th.
*Dungeons and Dragons programs (2) are scheduled for this summer.
Director’s Report:
*Meditation program with Wendy O’Leary is held remotely on Tuesday mornings.
* Wendy O’Leary presented a book signing featuring her book “The Monster Parade” on 4/4.
*Adult book group held virtually on 4/5 (Denise)
*Cheryl met with school library staff to discuss location of mini free libraries. She spoke to select board on April 11th about project.
*Cheryl presented FY 2023 budget to finance committee and select board.
*Grab and Go kits for adults were distributed in March.
*Cheryl attended three legislative Zoom gatherings in April.
Updates to Building Concerns:
*Children’s room being cleaned and painted.
*Boiler and emergency lights were inspected on March 29th.
*The inspector, DPW and 2 selectmen came to see the cracked bricks outside and the indoor building damage in the adult area.
*Electricians installed emergency lighting and addressed other issues on several occasions during the month.
*Bill Cundiff presented committee with the Request for Designer Services (Building Envelope Evaluation and Capital Assessment Planning)
