Trustees’ Meeting

February 15, 2022

 

In Attendance:

Meeting was called to order at 4:28 p.m.

Alyson motioned to approve the minutes from January meeting. Mary Anne seconded. Motion approved.

 

Children’s Room:

*Community Connections continues to provided monthly kits for birth-PK.

*We continue to give away our own kits for toddler/PK, K-5 and teens.

*Books from the Scholastic Literacy Partnership for the giveaway kits should be in soon.

*We have created temporary Pick a Pack Adventure kits that have movies, books and activities based around a theme.

*Researching story walk possibilities in town.

*We Read It newsletter goes out monthly.

*Spencer Cultural Council awarded grants to host 2 Wildlife Encounters programs, a Bubblemania Program and summer finale program with Magic Fred.

*Summer programs are planned to take place at Powder Mill Park again.

 

Director’s Report:

*Meditation program with Wendy O’Leary is held remotely on Tuesday mornings.

*Adult book group held virtually on February 15th.

*Grab and Go kits for adults distributed in January and February.

*Cheryl attended a CMLA Zoom meeting on 1/20.

*Cheryl attended department head meeting on 1/25 and 2/10.

*Cheryl participated in Zoom director’s meeting on 2/4.

*Cheryl participated in a virtual webinar on patron privacy on 1/27.

* Electricians worked in the building on 2/2 to solve issue in the front office.  They will return at a later date to address malfunctioning/outdated emergency lighting.

*Spencer Cultural Council awarded us with money for the Mini Free Library Program.

 

Updates to Building Concerns:

*Emergency lights and handicap door (automated opening button) need to be repaired/replaced.

*Heat issues in front offices.

*Bill Cundiff sent HVAC project out to bid.  Bids came back much higher than anticipated.  Options include: increase funding and send bid out again, revise scope of project and send bid out again or put project on hold.

*Energy Assessment was conducted.  Bill Cundiff will submit a bid to the state to use funds from the Green Community Designation Grant for possible weather sealing of the building.

Next Meeting: Tuesday, March 8thth at 4:30. Note: meetings have been changed to 2nd Tuesday of the month.
