Trustees’ Report

August 8, 2022

 

In Attendance:

Cheryl Donahue, Director

Katheryn Smith, Children’s Room

Mary Anne Slack, Chair

Bill Cundiff, Town of Spencer Supt. Of Utilities

 

Meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m.

Mary Anne made a motion to approve minutes from last meeting.  Alyson seconded. Motion approved.

Bill Cundiff provided board with proposal from LiRo.  Trustees will give feedback by Friday, August 12th.

Discussed finding new member for the board of trustees.  Possibly set up a table at the next town meeting to search for town members who may be interested.

 

Children’s Room:

*Community Connections held programs with us in July. Kids yoga and Icky Sticky story time.

*Drop-in activities continue in children’s dept.

*We Read It newsletter goes out monthly.

*Monthly grab and go kits are available each month.

*July programs included Sharpied Shells with Diane Johnson, Musical Story Time with Deb Hudgins, Big Truck Day, Rockabye Beasts, BubbleMania, Story School and a musical puppet show with Tom Knight.

*August programs have included Julie Stepanek, Henry Lappen and a live animal show with Wildlife Encounters.

*Katie attended School Library Journal’s Picture Book Palooza on July 14th and Small Libraries Chat on July 21st..

*Amy helped with the outreach program at Camp Marshall on July 21st.

 

Director’s Report:

*Pause meditation program is held Tuesdays with Wendy O’Leary.

*Musical performance by Crowe Pasture held at Prouty Park on July 11th.

*Neighborhood stroll to Dufault gardens was held on July 13th.

*M. Baker Wood, C. Bain and F. Morrill presented a local Q&A at the library on July 14th.

*Denise visited Lincoln Hill Manor on July 20th and Prouty Senior Living on July 27th.

*Interactive, educational program, “Surviving the Oregon Trail” was held at Howe Village on July 26th

*Cheryl attended virtual state aid workshop on July 7th.

*Cheryl completed annual ARIS report and submitted to the state.

*MPC performed repairs to heating system.

*Lower level window replaced on July 28th.  Insurance did not cover the cost of repairs.

Updates to Building Concerns:

*Architectural firm, LiRo selected to conduct envelope study.

Next Meeting is September 6th at 12:30.
