Trustees’ Report
October 11, 2022
In Attendance:
Cheryl Donahue, Director
Katheryn Smith, Children’s Room
Mary Anne Slack, Chair
Alyson Russo. Trustee
Meeting was called to order at 12:32 p.m.
Mary Anne made a motion to approve minutes from last meeting. Alyson seconded. Motion approved.
Children’s Room:
*Community Connections held programs with us in September. We will continue to be on their weekly schedule moving forward.
*Halloween raffle and Harvest raffle are available for kids to enter.
*The Friends of the Library donated $100 to International Animal Rescue on behalf of the Children’s Dept. for reading towards a charity during the summer.
*Drop-in activities continue in children’s dept.
*We Read It newsletter goes out monthly.
*We had a wreath making program for teens and a crystal healing program for teens and adults.
*Monthly grab and go kits are available each month.
*We had a STEAM survival challenge, simply stories, make it with Legos and Pokemon club for grades k-8.
*The grant application deadline is October 17th and Katie is applying for several grants and writing support letters for performers to be a part of our summer reading program in July and August.
*Katie attended Day of Dialog with School Library Journal on 10/6, as well as small libraries chat and youth services chat over Zoom in September.
*Katie represented the library at the Department Head meeting during Cheryl’s vacation and Katie and Cheryl attended the Community Connections Advisory Council on 9/27.
Director’s Report:
*Pause meditation program is held Tuesdays with Wendy O’Leary.
*Music program featuring the songs of Julie Andrews took place on 9/29.
*Library staff and board members attended APRA workshop on 9/19.
*Cheryl participated in CW Mars users council remote meeting on 9/20.
*Cheryl attended department head meeting on 9/27.
*Cheryl participated in a conference call with LiRo on 9/27 and a conference call regarding building weatherization.
*State Financial report for FY 2023 was submitted on 9/16.
*Library Assoc. position interviews took place on Ocotber 3rd and 4th (Cheryl, Katie and Mary Anne).
Motion to approve closing the library on Saturday, December 24th and 31st 2022 and Saturday, May 27th and September 2nd 2023 was made by Mary Anne. Alyson seconded. Motion approved.
Discussed options for holing a library card drive.
Meeting adjourned at 1:30.
Next Meeting is November 8th at 12:30.
