Children’s Room:

Community Connections held several story time programs for us in December.

Katie will be running a story time program on January 13th.

There are several drop-in activities with new manipulatives for patrons to enjoy.

Guess how many jingle bells contest was held in December. Guess how many elastic bands contest will be held in January.

We Read It newsletter goes out monthly for all ages.

We had a Graphic Novel Book Club, Book Club and Imagination Station in December.

Amy is starting a Countdown to the Eclipse programming services for grades K-5.

Katie is still running a Spanish Club and D&D for the teens and will be ending the month with a bracelet making program.

Katie taught a Learn to Knit a Hat program for teens and adults.

Katie created and cataloged several new kits to circulate.

We are pairing up with Americorps and Old Sturbridge Village to offer several programs on Saturdays.  The 1st one will be sewing a teapot mat for ages 8+.

We have hosted the Knox Trail Pace Program several times over the month of December.

We were awarded the Local Cultural Council grants we applied for and will also be hosting several programs from performers who were awarded grants. The first one will be held in February (video gaming tournament from One Up Games: 2/17. Open to all ages).

Katie attended Smarter not Harder on December 5th and Youth Services Chat and Promoted Peer from Coworker to Supervisor on December 13th.

 

Director’s Report:

 

•Pause” mediation program with Wendy O’Leary continues to be held on Tuesday mornings.

“Coffee Chat” is held on Monday mornings with 12-20 participants each week.  Mary Baker Wood helped facilitate the conversation at several meetings.

D. Farmosa delivered items to homes of patrons unable to visit the library.  She also visited Lincoln Hill Manor on November 21st.

Luminaries were displayed on front steps in celebration of winter solstice on December 21st.

Cheryl attended dept. Head meeting on November 14th and 28th and December 5th.

Cheryl attended CWMARS users council Zoom meeting on November 14th.

Cheryl met with J. Bridges and P. Boria regarding LiRo study/capital request on November 21st.

On December 6th, Cheryl met with representatives from OSV to discuss the possibility of future outreach programming at the library for school aged children.

Cheryl attended the preliminary capital planning committee meeting LiRo building envelope evaluation on December 6th.

Aimee Jones resigned on November 18th.

New hire Taylor Butler’s first Saturday shift was December 2nd.

Fiona Halloran resigned on December 30th.

Saturday Library Associate position opening was posted on the town website.

The library collected clothing items for Operation Undercover in November and December.

Masonry work/repairs commenced on December 7th and were completed on December 11th.

Due to blower failure, MPC was called to address lack of heat on January 3rd.
