We now have online permitting for Building/Gas/ Electrical/Plumbing and  Forms & Applications are all online and can be printed out and completed too. 

When do I need to apply for a permit?
A plumbing  permit is required for any work other than changing a washer or drain cleaning.
A gas permit is required for any work involving a gas line, i.e. new appliances, anything shut off for 6 months, or anything the gas company has shut off.
An electrical permit is required for any alterations of existing or new wiring.

Who can perform the work?
Only a licensed plumber, gas fitter, or electrician can perform work in the Town of Spencer, a homeowner can pull their own Building Permit if they reside at the home, 3-Familys and Commercial work needs to have a licensed CSL Contractor to pull the Commercial Permit.

Process for an application:
In order to issue a permit the following are required:

• Complete online application form;
•  Complete worker’s compensation affidavit and upload certificate of general liability insurance (listing the Town of Spencer as the certificate holder) OR Complete application form with Owner’s Insurance Waiver signed;
• upload current licenses
• Pay Application fee   
• Communication will  be made throughout to let you know fees, missing information, or if your permit is approved

Fee schedules are also online and payment is due at the time of submitting a permit, if you are writing a check it needs to be made out to the Town of Spencer.
